First look at the test pressing!
over 2 years ago – Fri, May 27, 2022 at 07:48:13 AM

Woo hoo! We just received the test pressings for the Naked Raygun Broken Things etched 7” record featuring b-side art by James Romberger! As you know, test pressings are typically made with black vinyl and generic labels–the actual release will contain Josh Bayer's label art and pressed in assorted colors. Anyhow… take a look!

But how does it sound, you ask? It sounds great! It was mastered at Aardvark Mastering in Colorado, plated at Metalcraft in Jersey, and (test) pressed at United in Tennessee.  This weekend we’ll post a an audio-visual update for backers only (so if you’ve yet to make a pledge, this is the perfect time)!

More soon!

T-shirt reveal! Josh Bayer’s special edition Naked Raygun shirt
over 2 years ago – Tue, May 24, 2022 at 09:01:57 PM

At last we can share with you the 2nd special edition Naked Raygun shirt–this one by Josh Bayer, building on the ornate frame he did for the cover of the Broken Things 7”. It is a 3-color design on a light gray 100% cotton shirt.

You can get the shirt as a reward on its own, with a record, as part of some larger packages, or even as an add-on to your existing reward.

(Speaking of, due to a current backer upping their pledge and selecting a different reward, there is exactly ONE copy of the limited pink vinyl available as a reward at the $25 level, which also comes with a copy of Josh’s Mr. Incompleto comic. If you have yet to make a pledge, grab it quick! After that, there are just a few copies left as part of The Super Collector reward.)

In other news, we just got word that our test pressings have shipped! We’ll let you know how they came out, in what will be the most stressful moment of this campaign: when we put the needle on the record.

T-shirt reveal! Check out the special edition Naked Raygun shirt with James Romberger art!
over 2 years ago – Thu, May 19, 2022 at 05:46:42 AM

We’re excited to finally reveal the first of our special edition Naked Raygun shirts–this one by James Romberger and featuring the two main characters from the comic inspired by Broken Things. It is a 3-color design on a rich yellow 100% cotton shirt.

You can get the shirt as a reward on its own, with a record, as part of some larger packages, or even as an add-on to your existing reward.

Speaking of, the limited pink vinyl is all but gone! As of this writing, there are still a few copies hidden in the multi-record rewards. If you know someone who might want to grab one (in any color) please spread the word! The response thus far has been incredible, and we know there are more people out there who will want to jump on this as soon as they find out about it. So after you’ve secured your own reward (because, c’mon), tell your friends!

Listen to Naked Raygun’s Jeff Pezzati on The Modernist Society

Part of the Xylophone family, The Modernist Society is a podcast hosted by Jason Mojica and Eric Ottens, stemming from their monthly DJ night at Chicago’s Darkroom bar in the early aughts. These days they just talk to people. Interesting people, like Jeff Pezzati. It was in this interview from January of 2021 that we first learned that Naked Raygun was putting out its first album in 30 years–and it was quite possibly the first time Jeff revealed the name of the album: Over the Overlords.

Anyhow, give it a listen! We discuss all the important things: talk about all of the things: AC/DC, UFO, Big Black, comic books, Philip Jose Farmer, HVAC, and Jeff’s pre-Raygun band, Condor.

Listen to an interview with artists James Romberger & Josh Bayer about the Naked Raygun "Broken Things" record & comic project
over 2 years ago – Thu, May 12, 2022 at 09:27:55 PM

Incredible! First you all funded this project in the first 12 hours, and then you more than doubled our initial goal by the end of the 2nd day! Finding out that there are other people as excited about this idea as we are has probably the best part so far. Remember when people said that vinyl was dead? Remember when people said that print was dead? Ha!

As you’ve probably noticed, we haven’t yet shared the special Naked Raygun T-shirt designs that James & Josh have been working on. That will happen soon, and if you don’t want to go through the trouble of re-pledging in order to get one (or both), you can rest assured that they’ll be available as an add on post-campaign when we send out the backer surveys.

We’ll have more updates soon, but in the meantime, check out James Romberger & Josh Bayer talking about the Broken Things project on the Buy This Comic! podcast.

Thanks again for your support, and for helping to spread the word about the project!

Naked Raygun "Broken Things" record + comic is fully funded thanks to you!
over 2 years ago – Tue, May 10, 2022 at 06:47:20 AM

Wow! Less than 12 hours after we pushed the "launch" button, this project is fully funded, and it's all thanks to you! Thank you for jumping right in and backing it, and thank you for continuing to spread the word. The enthusiasm of everyone involved in this project has made it a dream to work on, so we want to also say thanks to Naked Raygun, (Jeff, Eric, Bill, and Fritz), James Romberger, Josh Bayer, Lou Lombardo, and Mark Skillicorn & Julia Nash from Wax Trax!

We're all incredibly proud of this idea, and are excited to get to the part where we're packing up your records and shipping them out all over the world.

Between now and then, there's still much to do, and we'll be keeping you updated with some of James Romberger & Josh Bayer's process art, the reveal on those special edition Naked Raygun shirts, and the critical moment we drop the needle on the much-anticipated pressing.

Speaking of the record-making process, here's a little video the folks at United Record Pressing in Nashville, TN sent us of the plate for the etched b-side of the record, featuring James Romberger's art. Yes, that is a drawing of Pierre on the flip phone.

Okay! Back to the grindstone. Keep an eye out for an interview this week with James & Josh about the project on the Buy This Comic! podcast, and if you've got a friend who likes punk rock and / or comics, please tell them about the project!

Thanks!
